All EYLA Coaches have experience as high-level lacrosse players and/or many years of coaching experience.  All are US Lacrosse members and Certified as Double Goal Coaches by the Positive Coaching Alliance

Rob Fournie - Boys Program Director, U15 Head Coach

 

Coach Rob Fournie started playing lacrosse in 1994 in St. Louis Missouri.  While at St.Louis University High School he started Varsity as a Sophomore and was an all-state goalie.  In college Rob started the GLLC Club Lacrosse team at Loyola University Chicago. Coach Fournie has been a coach at Evanston HS since 1999.  He has filled roles as Varsity Assistant, Freshman Coach and goalie coach.  As goalie coach he coached many all CSL first and second team goalies and 3 all IHSLA goalies.  Coach Fournie has been head JV coach at ETHS since 2008.  Coach Rob has been involved with Evanston Youth Lacrosse, Lacrosse America, TRUE Lacrosse, Glenview Lacrosse, and Lake Forest Youth Lacrosse.

 

Andy Dickerson - U13 Coach, EYLA Board member 


Andy has been involved in youth lacrosse in Northern Illinois since 1985. Head varsity lacrosse coach at Hinsdale Central from 1990 to 1994 - Illinois High School Coach of the year 1993. ETHS Assistant Varsity Coach in 1995. Andy also played for Lincoln Park Lacrosse Club for over a decade - in lots of games against Coach Mayne. Coach Dickerson has coached with Evanston Youth Lacrosse Association since 2008. Current EYLA Board member. 

 

Tim Reynolds – U11 Head Coach, EYLA Board Vice President

Tim Reynolds grew up in Palatine and helped start the lacrosse program at Fremd High School in the early 90’s. Tim was a 3 year starter on the varsity lacrosse team and was named captain his junior and senior season. During his high school career, Tim was named an all conference and all state selection. Tim participated in 2 Illinois High School All Star games and played on the inaugural Team Illinois in 1995. Tim remains active in the Illinois lacrosse community playing in adult leagues, has coached at various programs and age groups from High School Select teams on down to his crucial role as Founding Head Coach for EYLA's Pee Wee level program in 2009. Tim currently resides in Evanston with his wife, Stacy, and two children, Logan/son - 6, and Reese/daughter - 3.  Tim is currently Vice President of EYLA
 

Don Howard - U9 Head Coach, EYLA Board member

Don Howard grew up in Rogers Park, Chicago. Played hockey in Evanston 7-15 yrs old. Moved family to Evanston 10 yrs ago. Former hockey director with Evanston Hockey, has coached at every age group 4yrs through High school Varsity. ETHS Varsity state 2nd place-2006/7, JV state 2nd place 2007/8. Also volunteer coaches in the recreational division (9&10,11&12,13-14yr olds) and has won a few titles there. Has a son(Donovan) born in 97 who is a hockey/LACROSSE/basketball/golf/guitar/drums/homework nut.

David Singer - U9 Coach, EYLA Board member

David grew up in Baltimore and played lacrosse at Princeton (class of 1991).   After Princeton he returned home to help coach lacrosse at his High School alma mater, Park School, while in law school.  David currently resides in Evanston with his wife, julie, and their two children, Michael and Hannah

Peter Fitzgerald - U15 Coach, EYLA Board President

Coach Fitzgerald played on the Varsity and JV teams at New Trier HS in 1985-87.  Peter is a Level 2 certified US Lacrosse coach and Level 2 certified USA Hockey coach.  Coach Fitzgerald has been coaching with EYLA since 2011 and is currently an EYLA President
 

John Powers - U13 Coach

Coach Powers played on the early ETHS lacrosse teams under legendary coach Murney Lazier, and was the first ETHS grad to play Division I lacrosse.  John played middie at Harvard for four years, where the Crimson were ranked #10 in the country his senior year.  He also played two seasons with the Chicago Lacrosse Club.  Coach Powers has coached with the EYLA U-13 program since 2010.

Colin Ambler –  U11 Coach

Colin was a 3 time All-NCAA all star Attack player and Academic All-American at Drexel University where he served as team captain and is 9th on the all time list of leading scorers.  As a college student at Drexel University, Colin founded his own elite club (Bandits Lacrosse) and elite team tournament (Meltdown) in suburban Philadelphia. Upon moving to Chicago in 2012, Colin became a full-time member of NXT Sports where he serves as CTO and Chicago Regional director. Colin has coached at all levels, including Division One at Princeton University and Assistant Coach at Robert Morris University of Chicago. In Chicago, Colin lives in Lakeview and is a MBA student at the University of Chicago.

Randy Mayne -   Assistant Varsity Coach, Evanston High School 2011-


Born in Baltimore, had a (wooden) stick in hand while hanging out at Dad's club games in the mid-1960's. Fast Forward to first organised lax in the 1975 Winnetka Summer League. New Trier West 1977-78: Varsity Lacrosse & Football. President, Chicago L.C. 1989-1992; Founded the Midwest City Lacrosse Conference in 1990. Played a little club ball in Japan, 1994/95. Continues to play recreationally – "beats workin’ out".
Co-Head Coach Loyola Academy Varsity team, 1987 (inaugural season). Moved young family to Evanston in 1991. Found true calling as co-coach of his 3rd grader’s first lacrosse team in Wilmette with Lacrosse America in 2002, which evolved into the Evanston Youth Lacrosse Association. Coach Mayne's first EYLA team has now moved on from ETHS and Loyola (Classes of 2010/2011, 4 of those kids have been recruited into D-3 lacrosse). Coach's Dream: To attend an Illinois State HS Championship game where Evanston plays Loyola and at some point in the game, more than 10 kids on the field can claim they "once played for Coach Mayne in the Evanston Youth Lacrosse program."  EYLA's Founding President, remains a Board member.



Dan Maude

Originally from Wayne, PA and the Villanova area, Dan started playing lacrosse in the 3rd grade at the youth league level. Graduate of the Haverford School where he was a three-sport athlete (Soccer, Track, Lacrosse) and Captain of the 2005 Pennsylvania Lacrosse State Champions. Played college lacrosse at Division III Denison University in Granville, Ohio. While at Denison: Dan was the North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) Rookie of the Year in '06; 3x All-NCAC First Team Selection at Midfield; NCAC Player of the year in 2009; 2x USILA All-American ('08 and '09); and team captain in 2009. During Dan's tenure, Denison earned NCAA playoff appearances all four years, the best finish coming in 2009 when the Big Red reached the Elite Eight.

 

Kyle Harer - "At Large" Goalie Coach

 

Co-starter in goal with the 2009 National-Runners up Cornell University Varsity,  Kyle has already proven to be a great help to EYLA goalies during our "ETHS Field House" sessions.  (Looking for Kyle to contribute some more text here before the editor does his own embellishing).
